Franco Soffiantino Gallery, Torino
The project was structured in four parts and four different moments:
"Courtesy Franco Soffiantino Gallery" first step: before the inauguration four rowdy fan friends of mine and myself destroyed one of the five
windows of the gallery. Immediately after the action, the gallery owner and his workers designed and built a wooden and iron structure that
reclosed the open space created.
"One Moment Please" second step : on the day of the inauguration, in the presence of the audience, I lit some white smoke bombs in order to
saturate the premises of the gallery, the attenders were forced to rush out, while I remained inside the space all the time.
"Self- portrait" third step: on show there remained what was left of the devastation, there was applied a poster on the wall, that exhibited white
smoke and an installation, it consisted of a neon sign reading "artist" supported by a plank of wood, very similar to a crucifixion.
Fourth step: a few days after the performance, in the gallery we organized an exhibition talk between me and an independent curator,
in which we discussed the project.
The project analyzes the relationship between artist and gallery owner. There is a feeling of powerlessness, which, through a "Mise-en-scène"
of violence, translates the grotesque failure of man and the artist himself, he is helpless in front of his own will to oppose the systemic dynamics.
